Why Pray?

Prayer is one of our most vital ministries. Through prayer, we humble ourselves before God, crying out to Him on behalf of those who are sick and in need, while also asking Him to move in our church, community, and beyond.

James 5:16 reminds us, "The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect."

Prayer Team Descriptions

Prayer Warrior Team

This team of volunteers is committed to praying wherever they are when they receive a prayer request. This prayer request could come via email, phone call, or text. This team is our guarantee that when someone asks for prayer, someone from First Baptist Church Stockdale will be praying.

Sunday Morning Rotation

Pastor Kevin does not believe that the work done on Sunday mornings is accomplished in his own strength or power, rather it is only through the power of God and the working of the Holy Spirit in people's hearts and lives. With that in mind, it is our desire to have someone on campus, each week, praying during the worship service.

When you sign up to be apart of this prayer rotation, you will not miss out on the worship service every single week. But, you will be out of the worship service one time every several weeks.

During the worship hour, you will have the opportunity to pray over the prayer requests that have come in throughout the week/month. You will also have some specific scriptures to guide you in praying for the worship service and for revival in our church and community.

Weekday Rotation

Our offices are open Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays from 7:30-Noon. If you serve on this rotation, you will come up to the office once a week to pray for an unspecified amount of time. Some days you may pray for longer periods and others you may pray for shorter periods. There is a sheet in the room to help guide you as you pray.

Why pray at the building? You could absolutely pray at home. But, many times our days and homes are filled with distractions. Coming up to the building to pray will help you to intentionally put aside the distractions for one hour as you pray.
